The Roofing Warranty Certificate is an essential document that provides homeowners with peace of mind regarding their roofing investment. Issued by MCS Roofing, this certificate outlines the terms and benefits associated with the warranty for a newly installed roof. Homeowners are protected against leaks resulting from substandard installation for the life of the roof, which is typically a 50-year period. The warranty is also transferable, allowing new owners to benefit from the same coverage, provided they follow specific transfer procedures. Key terms of the warranty include the requirement for full payment of materials and labor before it takes effect, and the obligation for homeowners to report any issues promptly. Regular maintenance, such as biannual cleaning by MCS Roofing, is necessary to keep the warranty valid. However, the warranty does not cover damages from natural disasters, structural issues, or alterations made to the roof. Understanding these aspects is crucial for homeowners to ensure they maximize their warranty benefits while maintaining their roof's integrity.

Common mistakes

  1. Incomplete Information: Many people forget to fill in all required fields, such as the warranty issue date or the homeowner's name. Leaving these blank can delay the processing of the warranty.

  2. Incorrect Project Address: Entering the wrong project address can lead to issues with warranty claims later. It’s crucial to double-check that the address matches the installation site.

  3. Not Notifying MCS Roofing: Homeowners sometimes neglect to promptly inform MCS Roofing about any issues. Failing to do so can void the warranty, even if the problem is due to workmanship.

  4. Ignoring Cleaning Requirements: Some forget to schedule the necessary roof cleaning every two years. This oversight can also result in the warranty becoming void.

  5. Misunderstanding Transferability: Homeowners may not realize that the warranty is transferable only if the transferee submits a written request. Not following this step can leave the new homeowner without coverage.

  6. Overlooking Exclusions: Many do not read the exclusions carefully. Understanding what is not covered, such as damage from natural disasters or structural movement, is essential to avoid surprises later.

When filling out and using the Roofing Warranty Certificate form, keep these key takeaways in mind:

  • Complete Information: Ensure that all fields, including the homeowner's name and project address, are filled out accurately. This information is crucial for the warranty to be valid.
